Mangalore, 30 Apr 2014: India is an ancient land of sages; wherein harsh penance and sacrifices brought great divinity to motherland.  It was considered great fortune to be born in a Brahmin family during contemporary times.  Every Brahman has to follow a set of daily rituals daily.  The contemporary visionaries Shankaracharya and Ramanujacharya propagated their teachings based on ancient scriptures in the divine world of Indian continent. Meanwhile, Madwacharya who hailed from Kunjarugiri, near Udupi in costal district of Karnataka propagated his teachings based on Dwaita philosophy during fourteenth century AD.  The Vedic celebrations that were practiced by Madwacharya gained significance in Brahmin community of Tulunadu.  This community wherever they lived followed a set of rituals beginning from early morning bathing, worship, chant Gayatri matra and throughout the day and night.  It’s tragic that at the modern era, such traditional practices are losing sheen among the community brethrens.

It’s a fact that Brahmins by large shunned all the above traditional practices owing to migration for greener pastures for trade and commerce, jobs etc.  At this outset, several religious leaders, scholars and community’s intellectuals have taken up the challenge of sustaining such traditional practices for posterity.  In one such attempt, Dr Suresh Rao has produced a CD ‘Toulava – Nityanustanam’ taking into consideration the change in times that the community has undergone over the years.  Bangalore-based Poornaprajna Vidhya Peeta principal Dr H Satyanarayan Acharya, Vedamurti Pernankila Haridas Bhat, Swami of Pejavar mutt, Swami of Palimar mutt, Swami of Subramanya mutt, Kateel – Sri Kshetra Durgaparameshwari temple lineage family priests supported Dr Suresh in this endeavor.

Dr Suresh incorporated all the religious practices of Toulava Brahmins in his CD – Toulava Nityanustanam.  It has comments of Dr H Satyanarayana Acharya  along with mantras chanted by Bangalore-based Sanskrit College Professor Raghavendra Ithal, with significant contributions of Poornaprajna Vidhya Peeta’s Swami Vishveshwara, Raghavendra Aithal’s son Druva Kumar in evening rituals.

The shooting was held at Srirangapattana, Kollegala, at the banks of Cauvery River and Poornaprajna Vidhya Peeta.  Rajesh Haleyangady, Ramanna, Padmanabha Sasihitlu (Kala Souraba) and Krishnaraj Shetty (Kala Jagattu) were the technical staff.  It will be the ready reckoner for Toulava Brahmin to practice the daily rituals at their homes.

The CD – Toulava Nityanustanam will be released during Vipra Samavesh that will be held at Sri Durgaparameshwari Pre-University College, Kateel here on Saturday May 10 at 3.00pm.

Swami Vishvesha of Pejavar mutt, Udupi will release CD – Toulava Nityanustanam on the occasion.
