M’lore: City will get new 7 Primary Health Centers, 3 more Upgraded; Minister U T Khader

Mangalore, 30 Apr 2014: ‘Seven places in Mangalore city will have new primary health centers, which will be opened shortly, and in other 3 places the existing Primary Health Centers (PHCs) will be upgraded. At Surathkal, Kulai, Kunjathbail, Shaktinagar, Bunder area, Padil area, Jappinamogaru, Jeppu, Bolar and Kadri the new primary health centers will be built and government has sanctioned Rs 45 lac for the construction of each PHC,’ said state health minister U T Khader.
Addressing the media persons at DCC office, here on Tuesday April 29, minister Khader said, ‘Doctors, nurses and other related staff will be appointed on contract basis. He also said that the Asha (outsourced health) workers will be involved in PHCs and they will be given incentives. The state government has sanctioned Rs 2.66 lac to Mangalore city and Rs 1.25 lac to Ullal town panchayat to pay the incentives to Asha workers pending since November 2013. Government will also increase the wages of Asha workers from Rs 500 to Rs 2,200 per month,’ said minister Khader.
Congress leader Ibrahim Kodijal, T K Sudheer and others were also present at the media conference.
