Goa: Ryan International Group of Institutions organizes All India Ryan Inter-school Tourney

Goa, 29 Apr 2014: Ryan International Group of Institutions organized second All India Ryan inter-school football tournament under the auspices of Ryan International Sports Club here from Tuesday April 22 to Saturday April 26.
The Ryan International Group of Institutions founder chairman Dr A F Pinto, managing director Grace Pinto has been committed to the overall development of children through their educational institutions all over the country. Under their vision and direction Ryan International Sports Club has been providing opportunities for students in sports at both national and international levels. This tournament is the brain-child of Dr A F Pinto who is a keen promoter of sports in India and has a vision of taking this sport to the international level.
The tournament was held at 4 different venues: Varca S C, Benaulim, Navelim and Seraulim. It was for boys under 14 years. There were 32 teams from all over India participating in this tournament. The matches were conducted in league-cum-knockout format. Ryan Gold Cup, Auxiliary Cup and Tie Breaker Tournament were conducted.
The grand opening ceremony was held at all 4 venues with various eminent guest from sporting arena present – former Goa national football player who played for major clubs of Goa, former Maharashtra and Goa national football player and former national referee Peter Rodrigues, Fr Eremito C from Our Lady of Pillar Church Seraulim, former Goa goal keeper, AFC – A license coach and Churchil football vice coach Alfred Fernandes.
During the weeklong tournament there were total of 93 matches conducted at all 4 venues, the league-cum-knockout - 66 Matches and 27 Tiebreaker matches. Students enthusiastically with sportsmanship spirit competed for Ryan Gold Cup, Ryan Auxiliary Cup, and Tie- Breaker Cup.
The winner of the Ryan Gold Cup was Ryan International School, Chandigarh and runner up was Ryan International School, Kundanahali (Bangalore). The Auxiliary Cup was St Joseph High School, Kalamboli and runner up was Ryan International School (CBSE), Surat. The Tie-Breaker Cup was bagged by Ryan International School, Chembur and the runner up school was St Lawrence High School, Kandivali. The champions were given trophies along with individual prizes.
To encourage young players, there were Mahesh Gawli, International Football Player, Binish Balan, playing in I-League & AFC Championship, Brendon Fernandes -International Football Player currently playing in South Africa and also there were MLAs and others present for the same. The guests were highly impressed by the entire football extravaganza organized so systematically. It is indeed a historic moment for Ryan and may just prove to be a step in the long journey in the sporting and soccer arena.
