Mangalore: Gold Haul at City Airport; Customs seize Gold worth over Rs 13 lac

Mangalore, 13 Apr 2014: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport seized gold totally weighing 466.650 grams in 2 separate cases valued at Rs13,71,951 here on Sunday April 13.

 
In the first case, the officers seized 2 gold wires, totally weighing 233.550 grams and valued at Rs 6,86,637 concealed in the form of beadings around a brown coloured stroller suitcase, brought as checked in baggage from the possession of a passenger named Kappanakkal Muhammed Anvar, aged about 27 Years, son of Muhammed Kappanakkal, residing at door No 5/342, Kappanakal House, Bekal post, Kasargod district of Kerala.  He arrived at Mangalore International Airport by Air India Express flight number IX384 from Dubai on Sunday April 13.

 

 

 
In the second case, the officers seized 1 gold strip concealed in a measuring tape and 44gold buckles, concealed in footwear and ladies brassieres totally weighing 233.100 grams and valued at Rs 6,85,314, kept in a carton box brought as checked in baggage from the possession of a passenger named Aboobacker Siddeeque Bennamgala, aged about 27 years, son of Pallikunhi Nakkara Abdulla,  residing at Bennamgalakunnil House, Kumbla post, Arikkady Kunnil, Kasargod district of Kerala.  Aboobacker arrived at Mangalore International Airport by Air India Express flight number IX 814 from Dubai on Sunday April 13.

 
The operations were conducted under the supervision of Hemen Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport by a team lead by B Prabhakar Poojary, Superintendent along with Superintendents Sendhil Murugan, B A Kariappa, H G Yogesh and Inspectors G Kumaraswamy, S Ranjan Behera, Santosh Kumar and Ankit Kumar and Havaldars Varadaraju and Sowmya Naik.
