Bantwal: Cine actor Chetan Rai Mani urges to Sustain folk-art of Kambala

Bantwal, 9 Apr 2014: The organizers of Kambala and the owners of buffaloes deserve to be commended for spending money and energy thereby striving to sustain Kambala, the folk art of Tulunadu amidst fears of its extinction.  Although it’s not a profitable venture, the participation makes it a distinct achievement.  All those buffaloes-handlers and support staff are indeed true children of this soil, said cine star, the theater artiste B Chetan Rai Mani.

 
Chetan was special invitee speaking at the valedictory function of second-year flood lit Satya – Dharma Jodukare Kambala that was organized by Sri Ramanjaneya Geleyara Balaga at Kakkepadav, Uli village, near here on Tuesday April 8.

 
The up and coming Tulu movie actor Arjun Kapikad said that Kambala has created interest in overseas tourist, while the tourist ought to participate in folk art of Kambala and also actively engaged in farming, urged Arjun.  He also expressed in interest in producing a movie on Kambala.

 

 


Bharat Co-operative Bank (Mumbai) Limited chairman Jaya C Suvarna, Kambala Committee president and state backward Commission member M Tungappa Bangera, Vedamurti Raghavendra Bhat Kodambettu, Tukrappa Gowda, entrepreneurs Laxminarayana T M Kokkada, Narayan Shetty Kakya, Jaya Shetty Kinjalu, Subramanya JCI zonal president Chandrashekar Nair, retired teacher Babu Konguje, Satish Kakyapadav, Mohan Shetty Narvaldadka, Sachin Naik Kokkada, Jagdish Shetty Bolantoor, Sarapady gram panchayat president Dhananjay Shetty N, Ramakrishna Mayya, Chandrahas Sanil Hosabettu and others were present on the occasion.

 
Karnataka Rajyotsav award recipient Sadashiv Salian (Kambala), Venkappa Nalike Kuntalapalke (Bhootaradane), Somanat Pandit Anantady (traditional medicinal practitioner were felicitated on the same occasion.

 
Geleyara Balaga president Ranjit Maira, former president Purandara K, Kambala Committee president Dr Rajaram, Sai Giridar Shetty, Chidanand Rai Kakya, K Harischandra Poojary, Gunashekar Kodange, Purushottam Poojary, Suresh Maira, Shivanand Maira, Praveen Shetty Kinjalu, Ganesh Poojary, Santappa Poojary and others were also present.

 
M Rajeev Shetty Yedtoor compered the programme.  Vrushabaraj proposed vote of thanks.
