M’lore: Prof Surendra Rao urges youth to develop reading habit

Mangalore, 5 Apr 2014: The youth community especially the students ought to develop reading habit and buy books for reading, said Mangalore University retired Professor B Surendra Rao.
Professor Rao was speaking after releasing Kannada book, Gulf Yudda 1990 – 91 (emergence of imperialism) authored by Dr Barkoor Uday, during a function held at Sohodaya auditorium, Balmatta, here on Saturday April 5 evening. The function was organized jointly by Tulunadu Publications and Chintana Books.
In the past, the wars were fought among the armies, but now the innocent, poor, elderly, children and weaker are becoming victims of wars. In many of the cases, the warring nations don’t know why they are fighting for, said Professor Rao.
The intellecdtual G Rajashekar presented the forewords of the book.
Mangalore University head of department of political science Professor Rajaram Tolpady presided the programme.
Dr Barkoor Uday delivered the introductory address. The history student Pramita compered the programme.
