M’lore: Newly-Renovated Magnificent Chapel of Sacred Heart Monastery inaugurated

Mangalore, 19 Mar 2014: Cloistered nuns of Sacred Heart Monastery, Kankanady celebrated the blessing and inauguration of the newly-renovated chapel building here on Tuesday March 18.
Bishop Dr Aloysius P D’Souza of Mangalore diocese and Bishop Dr Robert Miranda of Gulbarga diocese inaugurated the newly-renovated chapel of Cloistered nuns of Sacred Heart Monastery, Kankanady here.
Bishop Dr Aloysius concelebrated the Eucharistic Celebration along with Bishop Dr Robert, Carmelite provincial Fr Archibald Gonsalves, Carmelite friar Fr James Pius D’Souza, Mangalore diocesan chancellor Fr Henry Sequeira, Jeppu – St Joseph’s Seminary rector Fr Joseph Martis, Father Muller Charitable Institutions director Fr Patrick Rodrigues, and many other clergies.
Bishop Dr Aloysius D’Souza blessed the newly-renovated the newly-renovated chapel at the occasion.
Fr Gonsalves in his homily said, ‘St Joseph was a caregiver similar to the cloistered sisters. His life is an example for us. Carmelites adore St Joseph and we must follow his teachings,’ said Fr Gonsalves.
Fr Gonsalves further narrated the journey of the Carmelites’ arrival in Mangalore with a special mention of cloistered Sr Mary of Jesus Crucified (Blessed Mary Baourdy).
‘The modern world needs more spiritual awakening. The holy life led by these nuns is a blessing for the Mangalore diocese. Their life is a joy for us in the form of blessings. We must inculcate the beauty of devotion in our lives,’ said Fr Gonsalves.
The blessed candles were presented to architect Noel Pinto, artist Arthur Rasquinha, painter David, supervisor William, electrician Patrick D’Souza and carpenter Alex D’Souza in recognition of their dedicated service in restoring the magnificent chapel to its former glory. .
The refreshments were served to the gathering sponsored by a benefactor.
Fr Pius thanked the congregation and all those contributed for renovation works.
