M’lore: Father Muller Medical College Students create mass awareness on Kidney Diseases

Mangalore, 18 Mar 2014: Medical Students Association of India (MSAI) in collaboration with the NSS unit of Father Muller Medical College, here on Sunday March 16, organized a rally on awareness of kidney diseases and organ donation, as part of their weeklong celebration of World Kidney Week from March 10 to March 20.

 
The 1.5 kilometer rally which commenced from the Father Muller Charitable Institution’s main entrance saw the participation of over 370 medical, nursing and paramedical students who went all out shouting slogans and drawing the public to the 15 minute talk which was delivered at Milagres church by Dr Sudhir Prabhu, assistant Professor of department of community medicine, Father Muller Medical College, on the prevalence and signs of kidney diseases and importance of organ donation to the general public gathered there.

 

Then the volunteers walked back along the same path to Father Muller Charitable Institution again drawing more crowds to their cause. They were accompanied by Dr B Rekha, NSS co-ordinator and 10 NSS volunteers.

There was also a competition on the best slogan which was won by Anrica, first year student of MLT whose slogan was, ‘If a cup can be recycled then why not us?’ which the public connected to the most. All in all it was a meaningful and well spent one hour which made a difference!
