DVD of Tulu drama ’Lakkule Pulyand’ released in Dubai

Dubai, 16 Mar 2014: Ace Konkani - Tulu theatre artiste, director and playwright Pradeep Barboza’s Tulu play ’Lakkule Pulyand’ was released in a splendid ceremony at Lotus Hotel here on Friday March 14.


Pradeep Barboza, who hails from Paladka, Moodbidri, is a prolific Konkani theatre artiste who has also contributed to Tulu stage significantly.


Girish Shetty, president of Karnataka Sangha released the CD, whille Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld released the drama promo.

The programme was hosted by PB Productions. Friends, well-wishers, family members, sponsors, and artistes were present to witness the DVD release ceremony.


"Pradeep is now a matured artiste, compared to some years back. He has developed his skills through hard work, dedication and sincerity. He needs to be applauded as bringing out a DVD in Tulu is not an easy task. He is a role model to young artistes. Every artiste must utilize his or her talent when he or she gets the opportunity, and work hard with sincerity and dedication," said Walter Nandalike in his address. In words of encouragement, he said that Pradeep has all the potential to produce or direct a Tulu movie, which everyone is eagerly looking forward to.


Dayan D’Souza, guest of honour for the event also lauded Pradeep’s talent, and requested the audience to buy the DVD and watch instead of copying the DVD from others and watching free of cost.

Irshad Moodbidri was also a guest of honour.

A promo of the DVD was displayed during the event. Deepak Paladka, who performed an important role in the recently released Tulu movie ’Nirel’, and who is also an important member of Pradeep Barboza’s ’Sangon Mugdana’ Konkani drama troupe, was felicitated for his contribution to Tulu cinema and to Konkani stage. He was presented a bouquet, shawl, fruits. His wife and children were also on the stage during the felicitation.


Deepak thanked Pradeep for his support and said that Pradeep’s guidance and support helped him become a stage and cinema actor today. He also thanked ’Nirel’ producer and directors for giving him an opportunity in the movie.


Multi-talented Donald Correa compered the entire programme in his fluent Tulu, sprinkling it with his usual wit and humour.
Earlier the event was started with a prayer song by Asha Fernandes.


Pradeep Barboza, in his welcome speech said that bringing out a Tulu DVD was his dream, and it was realised because of the support from sponsors, media and specially co-artistes who agreed to act in the drama, specially big names like Arvind Bolar, Sundar Rai Mandara, and others.


Apart from Bolar, Rai and Pradeep himself, other actors who feature in the play are Vasanth Shetty, Satish Amin, Prateek S, Rajesh Amin, Chandrahasa, Sharan Kaikamba, Bhaskar Gowda, Winney Fernandes and Monica Belman.


The DVDs will be available in the UAE, India and other countries soon.
