Mumbai: Auxilium Convent High School, Bandra bags Green Schools Campaign Award

Mumbai, 15 Mar 2014: Green Schools campaign Award Ceremony - 2014 was held at Don Bosco Hall, Matunga, here on Thursday March 13. Nearly fifty-five schools participated in the competitions.
Auxilium Convent High School, Bandra was awarded the first prize of Rs 1 lac followed by Sacred Heart High School, Vashi and second Runner up was Don Bosco High Schol, Naigaon.
The students of Auxilium Convent, Bandra formed an Eco-club comprising 50 students under the guidance of principal Sr Jacintha Pinto and Eco-club teachers Sr Yolanda Ferreira and Sr. Sweety Murzello in collaboration with Fr Savio Silveira, director of Greenline, Don Bosco, Matunga.
Shilpa Kaloya has been awarded the Green Champ award for being the greenest student of Auxilium Convent School, Bandra.
The Eco-Club activities commenced in June 2013 with planning and team spirit throughout the academic year. The activities included sapling distribution to various schools and important dignitaries in Bandra, with a mission of ‘Each one Plant one’ and ‘Keep Bandra Clean.’ An awareness drive of harmful effects of plastic and thermocol to the environment and distribution of cloth bags and paper bags made by the students to the vendors and shopkeepers of Pali market. The students collected 2,200 tetra packs for recycling and collection of e-waste for the vulture conservation. The students wrote letters to their parents on stoppage of bursting crackers and fireworks during Diwali. Their ultimate aim was to bring an awareness to protect our beloved planet earth and make it greener!
