Udupi: Shiva Parish Women Council celebrate Women’s Day

Udupi/Shirva, 09 Mar 2014: On the occasion of the centenary celebration of Our lady of Health parish, Shirva, near here, its women council celebrated Women’s Day at Don Bosco Hall, after the Sunday Mass on March 9.
 
Earlier, Thanksgiving Mass was offered by the parish priest Fr Stany Tauro here on Sunday morning.
 
Fr Stany in his homily laid emphasis on the importance of women society urged the women to be courageous in modern times.
 
Fr Stany presided the stage programme after the Holy Mass.
 
Udupi diocesan social and economic development director Fr Reginald Pinto, Don Bosco Youth Center director Fr Maxim D’Souza, Shirva parish council vice president Wilson D’Souza, secretary William Machado, Fr Avil D’Cunha, convent superior Sr Brigit Madta, women’s council president Leena Machado,  secretary Jacinta D’Souza, resource persons Professor Vincent Alva and Professor Sarita Alva were present on the dais.

 

Both Professor Vincent Alva and Sarita Alva highlighted the role of women in building a peaceful and healthy society.  They also proposed some means  to achieve great success in life.
 
Speaking on this occasion, Fr Stany Tauro lauded the selfless services rendered by all women of the parish towards parish activities.
 
Leena Machado welcomed the gathering.  Jacinta proposed vote of thanks.  Agnes Barboza compered the programme.
 
The variety cultural shows were presented by the parishioners as part of entertainment programme.
 
Over 700 parishioners were present on the occasion.
