Udupi: Couples married falling in love divorce in 6 months indeed Tragic; Sheela K Shetty

Udupi, 8 Mar 2014: India is the cradle of cultural hierarchy that gave women her due respects, while the modern highly educated women has disregarded the cultural values of contemporary Indian culture. She has no time to discharge her motherly duties, to advise her children. The couples who fall in love and get married apply for divorce within 6 months of their grand weddings. They are losing their individuality by following western culture in the internet era, said Udupi taluk women Federation president Sheela K Shetty.
Sheela was speaking during the valedictory of silver jubilee celebration of Navachetana Mahila Mandala, Padubelle, near here on Friday March 8.
‘The children who are supposed to learn their mother tongue, enjoy the surrounding are forced to sit in front of the computer when they just 3 year-olds. It’s indeed not a sign of progress. For a mother, her first duties are bound to be her family and next politics etc. If the mother has forgotten her motherly duties, the family relations, traditions and culture will be fully neglected, said Sheela.
Moodubelle – St Lawrence College principal Sarita Alva said that women are the cause of human creation. She is the basis for cultural upbringing of her children. The globalization and higher education should strengthen her self confidence and should not boost her ego. The need of the hour is women should enhance her self confidence and take earnest interest in nurturing cultured families and healthy society, urged Sarita.
ZP member Ida Gilbert D’Souza said that women should first discharge her family duties as an ideal homemaker and social service should be her second priority.
Belle gram panchayat president Rajendra Shetty, members Parashuram Bhat and Harish Shetty, entrepreneur Cyril Quadros Bantakal were the chief guests of the occasion.
The Mahila Mandala founder/members Pauline Alva, Florin Alva, Jayanti Shetty, Anasuyadevi, Vimala Maindal, Lucy Lewis, advisory Committee member Louis Alva were felicitated on the same occasion.
Jyoti Alva welcomed the gathering. The secretary Girija Samaga read the report. Umavati Shetty, Geeta teacher, Vimala teacher introduced the dignitaries. Lidwyn Mathias compered the programme. The president Jacinta Menezes proposed vote of thanks.
‘Ill Badk’ Tulu play was staged by the artistes of Rangataranga theater group, Kaup as part of cultural programme.
