Bantwal/M’lore, 6 Mar 2014:  The eagerly the awaited annual picnic for the members of Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Bantwal Unit to Kemmanagundiwas finally became a reality.  On March 2ndthe eagerly awaiting enthusiastic and smiling 38 members of ICYM boarded the bus at 6am at Modankap Infant Jesus Church Compound.

After having breakfast at Charmadiwe continued travelling enjoying the beautiful nature.   Thecool breeze of Western Ghats welcomed us in her abode and the scenic view of Western Ghatswere amazing and overwhelming and those were the joyful moments for all the members.

Our first stop was at near RaashiZari falls and we reached there at 12am. We had our lunch then went to RaashiZari by walking. It’s a small falls amidst the forest and worth a visit. All our members enjoyed, playing in the water below the falls, climbed up and down and had memorable moments.  We then continued our journey to KemmanaGundi the final and most awaited picnic spot visited by many tourists every day. Finally, we reached the magical tourist spot, natural and very beautiful hill stationKemmanagundi at about at 5:15pm and began to climb the hill top.  We spent some time by enjoying its natural beauty.

Kemmanagundi is a hill station in Tarikere taluk of Chikmagalur district. It is 53 km from Chikmagalur and situated 1434m above sea level. This was the summer retreat of Krishna RajendraWodeyar 4 and as a mark of respect it is also known as Sri Krishna Rajendra Hill station.

It is well maintained with beautiful park. There is a spectacular sunset view from Raj Bhavan.

The site of this amazing hill station was mesmerizing and it is a wonderful site and spot to enjoy.  The feeling was awesome and atmosphere was heavenly. It was indeed a memorable time we spent at the wonderful hill station and the park.  We wanted to spend more time but as it was getting dark we had to cut short our time at Kemmanagundiand return and hence at about 6pm we started our return journey to our sweet homes.

It was indeed a most memorable picnic and every member of ICYM enjoyed each and every moment of this picnic and returned to our homes with vivid memories to be cherished.
