Udupi: State Admin neglected welfare of Tailors; B Vasant

Udupi, 5 Mar 2014: The poorest in the society choose tailoring as their profession to earn living. When compared to other professions, the state government seems not concerned about the welfare of tailors. It’s tragic that the veteran professional tailors don’t get their due recognition. The state government is neglecting the professional tailors, said Karnataka state Tailors Association president B Vasant.
Vasant was speaking after felicitating veteran tailors during their family get-together that was organized by Kaup Committee of Karnataka state Tailors Association, at Rotary auditorium, Bantakal, near Shirva, here on Sunday March 2.
Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka state Tailors Association chief secretary H Malik urged the members to avail facilities under Aam Aadmi Vima Yojane.
Udupi district Committee president Vittal Shetty offered information on strengthening the Association.
The state Committee member Abdul Khader, Ramachandra, district Committee chief secretary Shivaram Acharya Bandimata, zonal presidents Sadashiv Achar Shirva, Shekar Moolya Belman, Mohini R Padubidri, David Ammanna Katpady, Vasanti D Shetty Kaup were present at the dais.
The senior members Ramappa Amin Shirva, Raghu Kotian Kaup, Timmappa Suvarna Padubidri, Geeta K Prabhu Katpady, Sewrine D’Souza Belman were felicitated on the same occasion.
Kaup Committee president Yuganand Shetty presided the programme.
The past president William Machado in his introductory address explained the objective of organizing the programme.
