Udupi: ICYM Diocesan Youth Fest - 2014, Huge Success

Udupi, 4 March 2014 : ICYM diocesan central council organized Youth Fest – 2014 at Milagres College campus, Kallianpur near here on Sunday March 2.

 

Earlier, diocesan youth Commission director Fr Edwin D’Souza concelebrated the Eucharistic Celebration along with Karnataka regional youth director Fr Mari Joseph and other clergies.

 

Fr Mari Joseph flagged-off youth rally at Mount Rosary parish, Santekatte, Kallianpur to Milagres College campus, Kallianpur, here.

 

The diocesan vicar general Fr Baptist Menezes inaugurated the programme at Milagres College campus.

 

Milagres College principal Dr Neri Cornelo was the chief guest of the occasion.

 

Kallianpur deanery ICYM director Fr Fredrick D’Souza, Fr Edwin D’Souza, Fr Mari Joseph, ICYM co-ordinator Leslie Aroza, ICYM president Ivan D’Silva, ICYM secretary Waylen Machado and other office bearers were present on the dais.

 

Fr Baptist Menezes delivered inaugural address.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Neri Cornelio said that indeed it was ICYM that gave him the exposure to exhibit his inherent talent and leadership qualities.   He further said that he served as president of ICYM at Mount Rosary parish.

 

Ivan D’Silva welcomed the gatherings.  Waylen Machado proposed vote of thanks.

 

Variety cultural shows were presented by the members of ICYM.

 

Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi diocese attended the Youth Fest along with Milagres Cathedral rector Fr Stany Lobo.

 

Bishop Dr Gerald urged youth to be torchbearers of peace and ready to help the poor downtrodden in the society.

 

 
Fr Fredrick D’Souza presided the valedictory function here on Sunday evening.

 

MLA Pramod Madwaraj was the chief guest.

 

MLA Pramod lauded the yeomen service of ICYM and announced his support.

 

The national youth former director Fr Allwyn D’Souza was the chief guest of honor.

 

Fr Edwin D’Souza, Fr Mari Joseph, Ivan D’Silva, Waylen Machado, Kallianpur deanery ICYM president Lester Pais and Leslie Aroza were present on the dais.

 

Fr Mari Joseph, Fr Allwyn D’Souza and Fr Fredrick D’Souza spoke on the occasion.

 

Fr Alwyn D’Souza said that youth are always dear to his heart.  He appealed the youth to dream big and put concerted efforts in realizing the dream in life.

 

Brian Alphonse and Norbert Misquith were remembered for their outstanding services to diocesan youth.

 

Fr Edwin D’Souza announced the results of Youth Fest - 2014.  ICYM unit of Shirva parish was the champion of Youth Fest - 2014.

 

ICYM Milagres parish unit and ICYM Pamboor parish unit was the runners up.

 

Meanwhile, the prizes and certificates were presented to the individual winners of all events.

 

Pius Nagar parishioner Dreema D’Souza and Udyavar parishioner Tina Machado compered the programme.

 

The Youth Fest - 2014 concluded by singing ICYM hymn.
