Mumbai: Twice MLA Gopal Shetty of Borivali to Contest in Forthcoming LS Polls

Mumbai, Mar 1, 2014 : The popular two-times MLA Gopal Shetty of suburban Borivali (West) of BJP was selected by BJP big bosses to contest in the forthcoming parliamentary elections of Borivali LS constituency.

He hails from Santoor near Padubidri in Udupi district. He was active in social service even from him childhood, wherein he had set up Yuvak Mandal at Poisor, Kandivali (West) when he was just 13 years old. Its through the Mandal, he was able to get many amenities including twenty-four-hour ambulance service to the people living in the locality. He got into politics through BJP MLA Ram Naik. He served as BJP zonal secretary in Borivali locality and later became honorary secretary. He was elected as corporator 4 times in the civic polls. He was the only Tulu – Kannadiga who served as Deputy Mayor of Brahanmumbai Mahanagara Palika. He is the first Tulu – Kannadiga to serve president of Mumbai Pradesh BJP.
He was selected to contest the forthcoming general elections in recognition of his organizing capability and effective leadership qualities. The entire Tulou – Kannadiga populace and Bunts community leaders of greater metro expressed unconditional support to Gopal Shetty and hope he makes his maiden entry in national politics.
