Mangalore: Blood Donation is Noble Deed: Prof Shivashankaramurti

Mangalore, Feb 28, 2014 : ‘Blood donation is a greatest service that you can do to the society and mankind. People usually say only god can save life. But, by giving blood you can become a god,’ said Professor T C Shivashankaramurti, vice chancellor of Mangalore University.
Professor Shivashankaramurti was speaking after inaugurating the blood donation camp organized by Mangalore University Blood Donor’s Group (MUBDG), department of MCJ, PG student’s Council and department of MBA, in association with Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, Deralakatte at University Health Centre, Mangala Gangotri, Konaje, here on Thursday February 27.
Professor Shivashankaramurti further said, ‘No other Universities in Karnataka are running a Blood Donor’s Group like MUBDG in this capacity. If somebody gets blood on proper time, they will live and your blood will be running in their body,’ said Professor Shivashankaramurti.
More than hundred people including a number of girl students have registered their name and from this 62 people donated their blood during the camp.
MUBDG co-ordinator Professor G P Shivram welcomed the gathering. The student’s welfare director Professor P L Dharma proposed a vote of thanks.
Earlier, as the part of blood donation camp, MUBDG, a venture initiated by Communication Club of department of MCJ in 2012 had made an effective campaign to enhance the strength of blood donor’s group. A number of new members including teachers and students have enrolled their name in MUBDG.
