Dubai: Vamanjooreans UAE organized unfilled Family Picnic on Feb 21

Dubai, 23 Feb 2014 : Vamanjooreans UAE had their first picnic under the leadership of Mr. Johnson Monteiro at Zabeel Park on 21 Feb 2014. The main aim of the picnic was to spread a sense of brotherhood, give the people a break from their daily routine and to being some cheer to the stress of every day life.

 

 

 

Being a Friday, Vamanjooreans living in UAE started coming in after 11 am and they were welcomed with a cot cup of tea alongwith breakfast. Thereafter at 11.30 am Joyline led the entire group in prayer. Roshan D’Silva then welcomed the gathering and introduced two professionals Mr.Godwin and Mr.Melwin who would manage the picnic for the entire gathering.
 
It was wonderful to see the turnout for the picnic and the enthusiasm of the group was evident with the participation of one and all in the various activities held during the day. The entire gathering was split into four Groups, Vamanjoorean Stars, Pilikula Tigers, black tiger & Blue stars

Our beloved parish priest, Fr. Cyprian Pinto also made it a point to attend the picnic for a brief while and he briefed all members about the upcoming project of building the hall within the church premises. Fr.Cyprian was honored by Mr.Lawrance Medonca.

 
Various team games were held and it was wonderful to see each Group participate wholeheartedly to ensure that they were the best. Also there was a quiz wherein the quiz master Roshan and Godwin asked various questions on Vamanjoor, about various Konkani songs/dramas and all teams had a fair bit of participation. Each Group was also asked to perform a skit and it was amazing to see the raw talent amongst the members.

 
The top teams were awarded Team prizes and the winning team were gifted the entire banana bunch as part of their winning prize.

 
Finally after a game of housie, the whole Group were served hot podi’s with tea and the evening ended with each member fully satisfied and happy about the day well spent with their very own community members. cultural secretary Lional Monterio gave a vote of thanks and Vamanjoors comedy Actor Stephen Menezes briefed about Vamanjooreans event which will be held in May 30th, twin dramas will be played. Food was served by one of the delicious restaurant of Dubai Pingara resturent Dubai.
