Udupi: Annual Day Celebrated in St. Mary’s College, Shirva

Udupi/Shirva, 22 Feb.2014: The Annual Day of St. Mary’s College, Shirva was celebrated on Thursday, 20 February 2014 at 10 am in the College Auditorium. Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Correspondent of St. Mary’s Educational Institutions presided over the stage function. Rev. fr. Richard Coelho, Administrator, Fr. Muller’s Medical College Hospital, Mangalore was the chief guest for the annual day.
Prof. Rajan V.N., Pricnipal of St. Mary’s College presented the report of the various curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of the college during the last academic year. Prof. Ronald Moras, Head of the Economics Department introduced the chief guest.
On this occasion the students of the college who had shown their merit in curricular and extra-curricular activities were honoured by giving prizes and medals. Kum. Divya who had secured rank in the Master Social Work (MSW) and Rakshit who had secured the title of “Mr. Mangalore University’ in the body building category and has been selected to represent the Mangalore University in the Inter-University competition were felicitated.
In his address, Rev. Fr. Richard Coelho said that education is a means to bring out the inner capabilities and talents of an individual. By hard work and sustained interest students should involve fully in their education and achieve success in life. Along with developing intellectual faculties through education, students also should fulfill social responsibilities, said Rev. Fr. Richard Coelho.
Rayan Lynal Monis, President of the Students Council welcomed the guests and Joyson Benjamine Furtado, Secretary of the Students Council proposed the vote of thanks. Students Welfare Officer-Prof. Pascal Walter D’Sa and Supritha-Joint Secretary of the Students Council were also on the dais.
Cultural programme was organized in the afternoon from 1.30 to 5 pm during which students presented verity entertainment comprising of dances, singing and skits.
