Doha:ICC organizes Sports Events for Indian Expats to Mark Qatar National Sports Day

Doha-Qatar,11 Feb 2014: Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) successfully organized Sports Events at Al-Arabi Sports Centre on the occasion of Qatar National Sports Day.  ICC President Mr.Tarun Kumar Basu has inaugurated the sports events and welcomed the gathered sporty minds. More than five hundred peoples from different communities like Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ), Tulu Koota Qatar, ATS, Samanvayam, Millennium Kids, Vepex Qatar, Punjub team & Qatar Tamil Titans were showed their talents & skills in different games & sports events conducted by ICC.


Indian’s Origin games like Kabbadi& Kho-Kho was the main attraction of the event. Team games like Tug of War, Cricket, Ball Throw, & other individual sports were conducted for different age group category.


The Indian Ambassador Mr.Sanjeev Arora tossed the coin declaring the final Cricket match between Institutes of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) & Al-Zaman Team.


The Valedictory ceremony was presided over by the Indian Ambassador Mr.Sanjeev Arora and ICC President Mr.Tarun Kumar Basu. The Ambassador thanked the H.E. of Qatar in a special way, for celebrating  National Sports Day on every February’s 2nd Tuesday & also wished the flocked communities that, ‘sports events shall bring peace & healthy life style in everyone’. Meantime Ambassador felicitatedMrs. Milan Arunfor her great contributions for Indian community.


KSQ President Mr.Deepak Shetty and Bunts Sangha Qatar President Mr.Ravi Shetty were present on the occasion.

 


After the thrilling finals, the prize distribution ceremony was conducted. In the Kabbadi event Vepex Qatar won Champion Trophy & QTT bagged runners up Trophy. In Kho-Kho match ATS team bagged Championship trophy & KSQ team won the runners up.


In the Cricket Al-Zaman Team won coveted trophy after defeating ICAI team at the final.


In a female category Tug of war event, Millennium Kids team won first prize and Samanvayam Team won runners up. Meanwhile in a male category, TJSV won first prize and Samanvayam Team won runners up prize.


The organizers thanked the team of volunteers for their dedication and efficiently organizing the sports day.  Also they were praised for their team work and hard work put in for the success of the Sports day celebration.


The program was ably compared by ICC sports secretary Mr. Jatinder Bajaj & Mrs. Milan Arun, and coordinated from Mr.Sandesh, Mr.Mohan Kudla, Mr.Ramachandra Shetty, Mr.SridharNaik, Mr.Antony, & Mrs.SushmaSandesh.


Tecton Engineering & Doha Bank was the main sponsors of the whole events.
