Karkal, Feb 6, 2014 : Three-fourth of children born to alcohol-addicts is likely to become addicts when they grow up.  Eighty percent of criminals are come from addicted families.  Alcohol addiction is a curse on the family as alcohol consumption is the chief cause for committing heinous crimes, such as murder, dacoity, rape, booze and all the evils, said Vivek Vincent Pais, director of Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagruti Vedike ® Beltangady.

Pais was speaking after inaugurating a seminar on alcohol and drug abuse that was organized at the aegis of St Joseph’s education institutions,  Karnataka state alcohol control Committee and taluk information and broadcasting department at Belman - St Joseph’s School auditorium, here on Wednesday February 5.

Pais further said that the children are lured into paan parag, gutka, bidi, cigarette, tobacco, drugs and alcohol by acquaintances.  It’s tragic that the children are influenced by the advertisements of cricket stars and bollywood actors who glorify alcohol consumption.  Alcohol is freely served in weddings, sumptuous meals and other get-togethers that have impact on the children.  Meanwhile, one can find peace and happiness in the family that is loving, caring and sharing, besides to be associated with good characters, added Pais.

Narayan Pana who is leading normal life since 5 years after attending alcohol de-addiction camp was felicitated along with his wife on the same occasion.
