Mumbai: Saddle Up First, Sai Sannidi Second in Nama Javaner Cricket Tourney held in Suburban Bhayand

Mumbai, 6 Feb 2014 : Nama Javaner, Tulu – Kannadiga youth organization of suburban Mira – Bhayandar, organized cricket tournament for Tulu – Kannadigas at Bala Saheb Thackeray, Bhayandar (East) here recently.

 
Mira Road – Mahalingeshwar temple chief priest Sanoor Santinja Janardhan Bhat inaugurated the tournament.

 
Bhayandar – St Agnes School director Arun Rai was the chief guest of the occasion.

 

 

 
Sixteen teams from across the metro partaken in the limited over cricket tournament, while Saddle Up team bagged the first place and Sai Sannidi team bagged the second place.

 
Saddle Up team was presented with cash award of Rs 33,333 and championship trophy.  Sai Sannidi team presented with cash award of Rs 22,222 and runner up trophy.

 

 

 
Saddle Up team player Shailesh Kanchan bagged the man of the series award, while Nasser Udupi bagged the best batsman award, Arif Mukka bagged the top bowler award.

 
The local MLA Pratap Surnaik presented the trophies and awards to the winners.

 
Speaking on the occasion, Surnaik said that he had attended the programmes that were organized by Bunts and Billawa community.  He was privileged to attend the programme of Nama Javaner, youth hailing from coastal district of Karnataka.  The cricket tournament indeed strengthened the bond among the Mumbaikars and also enhanced the sports spirit, said Surnaik.  He hoped Tulu – Kannadiga players will some day shine in Indian team, hoped Surnaik.

 

 

 
Mira – Dahanu Bunts honorary president Virar Shankar Shetty was the guest of honor said that the traditions and customs of Karnataka are the same as that of Marathi brethrens who have indeed strived for the success of tournament.  The coastal residents are brave, while the tournament indeed opened up avenues to focus the energies effectively, said Shetty.

 
Mira – Dahanu Bunts trustee Suresh Shetty Gandarva, Mira – Bhayandar Shiv Sena leader Shankar Virkar, Mira – Bhayandar leader Nilesh Soni, hotelier Kilpady Bandasale Ravi Shetty Virar, Sampat Shetty Karnire Dahisar, Suresh Shetty Dahisar, Sampat Shetty Panjadaguttu and others were present at the dais.

 
Arun Shetty Paniyoor, Raviraj Shetty, Dinesh Shetty Kaup, Rakshit Shetty, Sudhir Shetty, Balachandra Rai, Santosh Suvarna, Nishu Bhandary, Dayanand Shetty and others assisted in organizing the tournament.

 
Balakrishna Rai compered the stage programme.  G K Kenchanakere, Shimantoor Praveen Shetty compered the tournament.  Nama Javaner, president Chetan Shetty Moodbidri proposed vote of thanks.  Ravi Kumar Mangalore was the commentator.  Mayur, Prakash Shetty, Dinesh Shetty Kaup were the referees of tournament.
