Dubai: Thiya Samaj UAE Elected their new governing body for year 2014

Dubai, 05 Feb 2014 : Members of Thiya Samaj UAE held a meeting on Friday the 31st January, 2014 at Formal Park, Abu Dhabi to elect their office bearers for the year 2014.

The meeting began at 12.00 noon with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the Founder Member Mrs. Bisajakshi.M.P, followed by the opening  and welcome speech by Mr. Dharmendra and the newly elected President Mr. Manish Karkera respectively.  Mr. Premjeet has been unanimously elected as the new General Secretary for the current year.

 

 

Manish Karkera while taking charge as the new President of Thiya Samaj, UAE, requested all the members for their whole hearted support and co-operation and sought guidance from senior members for the betterment of Thiya Samaj, in the days ahead. He also urged all members to encourage more Thiyas working/studying in the UAE to join the Samaj.  He also highlighted that all members must provide up-to-date contact details and also inform the Secretary if there are any changes in their information.

 

It was proposed to create a fund for one of the senior members, Ambarish (a dedicated member of Thiya Samaj UAE), who is now in India for his treatment.  All the members present agreed whole heartedly and generously to contribute towards the fund.  The total contribution collected is AED 5,950/- (approx INR 100,000), which includes a contribution of INR 5,000/- from Mr. Kumar Bangera, Mumbai.  The new committee thanked Kumar Bangera, and all other members for their valuable contribution for the good cause.

Future programmes were discussed and the President announced the Annual Picnic will be held in between March-April and Annual Pooja on Friday, 3rd October 2014 (Dasara- Ayudha Pooja).  He felt the need to introduce more events and activities in the forthcoming year, to increase interaction amongst members and to attract more members to join the Samaj.

The new Managing Committee informed all the Thiya Samaj to give their valuable feedbacks which would help the Samaj grow better. Also, the new managing committe requested members to kindly forward their bright ideas/suggestions regarding the events be it gathering/ Annual Picnic / Annual Pooja. Suggestions are also welcomed from the members as to how can we make our Samaj more active in the coming years.

Meeting was then followed by some fun filled games ,which saw an over-whelming response from all the members.  Games included Tug-of-war and Tag your favorite character for the kids, Lemon-n-spoon race for the ladies and Dog-n-bone for the men followed by some hilarious tongue twisters which kept the members rolling their tongue.

 

 

Soon after the games, the Samaj Members enjoyed a sumptuous lunch, an exquisite spread of lip-smacking Mangalorean dishes.

In his closing address, the President thanked Mrs. Bhagya R. Kotian, Mrs. Prema Chander & Mr. Lohith Karkera for making the required administrative arrangements and also thanked all the members for their valued presence and consequently making this Meeting a successful one. The meeting was adjourned at 3.30 pm with vote of thanks by General Secretary.
