Grand ’RYAN Minithon 2014’ organized at Mumbai

Mumbai, 05 Feb 2014: The wee hours of the morning of 2nd Feb 2014 saw the flutter and scurrying of enthusiastic children who had poured into Borivli.

Around  9000 enthusiastic students from the different parts of the city participated in the grand Ryan Minithon 2014 held at St Lawrence High School, Borivli (West).

The participation of thousands of students amidst the cheering of hundreds of residents of Borivli along the 4km route turned the Minithon into a sporting festival eagerly looking forward to every year by the students as well as the children.

Ryan Minithon 2014 is the 112th race among the school students in the country under the aegis of Ryan group of institutions and the leadership of Dr A F Pinto who has been organizing such races in Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Surat, Jalna, Jaipur and Navi Mumbai since 1998 to develop a sports culture in the country conducive for grooming young students for National and International sporting events.

 

The event was conducted in five categories :

The event was flagged off  by  Miss.  Snehal  Pinto -  Director of  Ryan  International  Institution ,  Mr.  Kyoshi  Shihan  Prakash R.  Wagh  - Asst. Police  Sub – Inspector  of ( S.R.P.F ) ,  Mr.  Atul  Kulkarni – Captain ( Indian  Navy )  , Mr.  Bhavesh  Jawade – Cricketer,  Mr.  Balakrishna  Shetty  -  Boxing  Champion , Mr. Prabhakaran  Nair -  Mr. Mumbai , Mr. Maharashtra ,Mr. India , Mr.  Jerome  D’Souza  - Pastor  , Mr.  Anil  Auhad  - Inspector  ( MHB  Police  Station , Borivli – w )  Mr. Anand  Menezes  - First  Indian Athlete    ,  Mr.  Baliram  Desle  - National  Level   Athletics   ,  Mr Shailendra  Mirgal  -  Hindustan  Times  ,  Alizishan  Khatri  -  NIE  Times  of  India , Bhakti  Desai  -  Reporter  Afternoon ,  Mr. Subhash  Vele  - Inspector  ( MHB  Police  Station , Borivli – w )   at sharp 7 am. The athletes were encouraged by parents  and  teachers who encouraged the runners.


The second session was the prize distribution ceremony with an entertaining programme organized by the participating schools for the invited dignitaries and sports personalities from the different field of sports the guest present were  Overall  Championship  Prize  also was given to the students.

 


 The programme included a prayer followed with a welcome speech and song and dance performances. The Ryanites strongly believe that ’Champions are not born but they are made’


The event carried cash prizes, which were given to the winners, runners up along with certificates and participation certificates to every participant to encourage their performance.
