’Yen Fitness Run’ to Make Fitness A Way of Life Attracted over 1000 Participants

Mangalore, Jan 14, 2014 : ’Yen Fitness Run"- to Make Fitness A Way of Life was organized by Yenepoya School, Jeppinamogaru,Mangalore-the four kilometre and a seven kilometre health run from Pumpwell Circle to Yenepoya School was held on Jan,

Dr Muralee Mohan Chuntharu, NSS Chairman of Nitte University and Wng Comdr Sujith Kumar flagged off the event at 7:30am atPumpwell Circle. Deputy Commissioner, A B Ibrahim also participated in the flag off programme. Narayan Bhide, Marathon Runner  and Yabdulla Kunhi, Chancellor, Yenepoya University were also present. More than 1,000 students participated in the ’Run". Participants from the age group of 6 to 64 participated in the run. The fitness run was aimed to create consciousness among the general public, especially among the youth.

 

 

Various Self defence sessions were conducted which showcased simple techniques befitting the elderly and women during times of crisis. The instructor for the karate event was one of the teachers from Yenepoya School. Alva’s college students bagged the prizes for men and women category.  A six-year- old girl from Yenepoya school also participated in the run.
