M’lore: NRI Entrepreneur Ronald Colaco lays emphasis on Communal Harmony, donates Rs 20 lac to

Mangalore, 23 Nov 2013: NRI entrepreneur Ronald Colaco on Saturday November 23 visited Suryanarayana temple, located at Maroli here and donated a cheque of Rs 20 lac towards the for the renovation work of the temple.


Ronald Colaco, who is a generous philanthropist, has so far contributed for 28 temples, churches and mosques across Karnataka.


During Ronald’s visit to the temple, he presented the cheuqe to temple renovation Committee chairman K P Shetty on the occasion.


Speaking on the occasion, Ronald Colaco said, ‘God has given us only one life, hence we should contribute something to our society, which will be the greatest blessing of all,’ said Colaco.


‘Sometimes people think about only one community, which should not be the case. Earlier, there was no division among people of various communities in this city, but now it has become a sad part of our society. God who creating us did not divide us,’ said Colaco.


‘Religion is a way of life and hence enmity should not come in between us,’ said Ronald Colaco, stressing the virtue of coexistence among people of different faith, caste and creed.

 

 


‘I give more importance to social service than building churches and temples. God does not need big statues, instead, money should be spent on needy people,’ said Colaco. 


MLA J R Lobo in his address thanked Ronald Colaco for his generous contribution towards the temple renovation.


K P Shetty honored Ronald Colaco on the same occasion.


The temple renovation Committee deputy chairman Balakrishna briefed about the renovation work undertaken in the temple. He said the temple is amongst the oldest the city with a history of 1,200 years and is one amongst a few temples dedicated to Lord Suryanarayana. The plan to renovate the temple was made in November 2011 at a cost of Rs 15 crore, and so far Rs 3 crore has been so far pooled from different donors.


The temple renovation Committee honorary chairman Chittaranjan K, Dennis D’Silva, corporators Praveenchandra Alva, Asha D’Silva and Keshav Maroli, Stany Alvares, T K Sudheer, Krithin, Arunraj Rodrigues and others were present on the occasion.
