Abu Dhabi: Five Toastmasters Clubs of Abu Dhabi & Al Ain gather for Combined Meeting

Abu Dhabi, 14 Nov 2013: Five Toastmasters Clubs of Area 11 in Division H (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain), namely Al Jazira, Spectrum, ISC, ETA Ascon and Fluor Toastmasters Club,  came together for their first combined meeting for the year at the India Social Center here recently.

 
TM Dileep Kumar read out the mission of toastmasters and invited Area 11 Governor TM Anoop.  He welcomed all the toastmasters and called upon all the five Club Presidents to deliver the opening address and to officially open the meeting.

 
The captains of the ship or in this case the Toastmasters of the Evening who guided this meeting wonderfully were the effervescent TM Anil Pinto from Al Jazira Club and the calm and composed TM Manmohan from ISC Club.  The theme of the meeting was aptly titled ‘Variety is the Spice of Life’.  Rightly so, it brought out the best variety from each of the five toastmasters club.  Both these toastmasters thoroughly entertained the audience and introduced all the role players.

 
The Timers role was held by TM Shanley from Spectrum Club.  TM Naiju from Fluor Club played the role of Word master and introduced the word of the day, its meaning and usage.  TM Hameed from ETA Toastmasters was the Thought master and gave a wonderful thought about how in the past, things were used and people were loved and these days the opposite is true.

 
MTM Gina from Flour Club and TM Ramesh from ISC Club were the Ah Counter and the Grammarian for the meeting who made sure that proper grammar was used by the speakers during the meeting.

 
Then started the Humorous Session conducted by TM Derick Dsouza of Al Jazira Club.  He divided the whole group into 2 and conducted a hilarious game of non verbal communication where the audience has to guess the other persons hand gesture and the non-verbal message and interpret the same to the next person in line.  A new twist to the old Chinese whisper game.

 

 
Then came the main attraction of the event, the prepared speech session.  Four toastmasters gave awesome prepared speeches.  TM Mohammad from ISC, TM Shabu from Spectrum, TM Thomas from ISC and TM Mohammed Al Zaabi from Jazira gave top quality speeches.  These speeches were equally well evaluated by TM Noel from ISC, MTM Shuchita from Al Jazira, TM Senthil from ETA and MTM Sherin from Spectrum.  The evaluators highlighted the things they loved in these speeches and also suggested some improvement points for their next projects.

Next came the Impromptu Speech Session which was superbly handled by TM Jayaram of ISC and TM Mathew of Spectrum which was conducted in the format of the popular TV Show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.  Topics were given to select toastmasters and they had to answer them impromptu. 

 
TM Farrukh Ali being the General Evaluator gave a succinct evaluation of the whole meeting and appreciated the role players and gave some valuable tips for further improvement.

 
The meeting ended with the Division H Governor giving his closing address and he particularly pointed out the solidarity and camaraderie of Area 11 toastmasters to organize this combined meeting and thanked all the club officers of all 5 Clubs for the initiative taken to organize this wonderful meeting.

 
Meeting was concluded at 10.15pm with photo session followed by networking and the sumptuous dinner.
