M’lore: CM Siddaramaiah offers into Society newly-built Narayan Guru Community Building at Bajpe

Mangalore, 11 Nov 2013: There is dearth of money among Billawa community brethrens, but there lies the shortage of education institutions.   Billawa community has the greater need to educate the entire community to lead equality in society, said Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah.

 

CM Siddaramaiah was speaking after inaugurating Narayan Guru Mandir and Community Building, during a function held at Bajpe, near here on Monday November 11 afternoon.

 

 

The Vedic celebrant Lokesh Shanti celebrated religious rituals in the presence of Swami Satyananda of Shivagiri mutt, Kerala, by installing the idol of Guru Narayan and Brahmakalashabhisheka on Monday November 11 morning.  Swami Brahmanand Saraswati of Sriram mutt, Kanyady delivered religious discourse on the occasion.

 

CM Siddaramaiah further said, ‘Billawa community with staunch belief in Guru Narayan’s ideology, struggled to bring about reform in the community and were successful in eliminating evil practice of untouchability.  They revolutionized the religious practices by building own temples and appointing priests from within the community.  The community silently braced the critics in strengthening the community.  The evil practices of superstitions, blind belief that ought to be studied to ban the evil,’ said CM Siddaramaiah.

 

All Billawas are not poor, there are rich also. The community is driven by Narayan Guru’s ideology. The state administration has sanctioned Rs 2 crore to set up a study centre of Narayan Guru, Rs 5 crore to develop Padumale, the birth place of Tulu heroic icons Koti – Chennaya in Puttur.  The financial assistance for recurring fund of toddy tappers and to develop Katpady temple will be approved after reviewing the proposal.  The poor are in every community and castes, religion.  The state government is striving to bring social justice to all.  It’s essential that educational empowerment leads one to self reliance. There lies the need to study the history that will determine the future.  The mass awareness and united efforts essential to eliminate oppression, said CM Siddaramaiah.

 

The former union finance minister B Janardhan Poojary along with Billawa Seva Sangh honorary president and Billawar Association – Mumbai president L V Amin, president Vasant Kumar Bangera inaugurated Billawa community building, while the state urban minister Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurated the dining facility.

 

The state forest and Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai distributed the talents awards, while the state fisheries minister K Abayachandra Jain distributed the scholarship.  The former endowment minister Kota Srinivas Poojary released the souvenir.

 

The national level talented athlete Harsha U Kotian, Harishta Yadav Kotian, Raksha S Bangera, Sushmita D Suvarna were felicitated on the occasion.  Shivaram Poojary Bajpe was also honored.

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Janardhan Poojary said that CM Siddaramaiah has been a courageous and strong-willed leader strived to address the grievances of poor, by waiving the loans availed by the people of backward classes, minority communities and SC/ST.  Narayan Guru strived to bring dignity to Billawa community with religious preaching that is why each Billawa is ever grateful.  There are poor in Brahmins who also need state support, said Poojary.

 

Former state education minister B A Moideen, All India Billawa Federation chairman Jaya C Suvarna, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Beltangady MLA Vasant Bangera, All India Billawa Union chairman Navinchandra D Suvarna, Billawa Jagruti Balaga – Mumbai president N T Poojary, renowned industrialists Gangadhar Amin Nasik and S V Amin, journalist Dinesh Amin Mattu, youth Congress leader P V Mohan and others were present on the dais.

 

Billawa Seva Sangh – Karambar Bajpe vice presidents Chandappa Kundar and Jagannat Poojary, organizing secretaries Kishore Karambar and Ashok Kumar, joint secretary Revati Dayanand, treasurer Balakrishna Suvarna, joint treasurer Dayanand Poojary, Bajpe parish priest Fr Leo Lobo, Sudha L Amin, Harikrishna Bantwal, Umanat Kotian and others were also present.

 

Billawa Seva Sangh president Vasant Kumar Bangera welcomed the gathering.  Geetanjali Suvarna and Revati rendered the prayers.  Executive president L V Amin delivered the introductory address.  Paramanand Salian compered the programme.  The secretary Shivaram Poojary proposed vote of thanks.

 

Dasha Yajna, Yakshagana play was staged by the artistes of Vinayaka children’s troupe of Kerekadu – Mulky and ‘Ill Badk,’ Tulu social play was staged by the renowned Bale Telipale troupe of Kaup, as part of cultural programmes.

 

The idol of Guru Narayan was taken in a procession from Ambika Annapoorneshwari temple, Sunkadakatte, on Sunday November 10 and placed at the Mandir.

 

Bhoomi Becchand, Tulu recital was staged by Ranga Suvarna – Sasihitlu troupe and also folk-dances on the occasion.
