Udupi: Prabhakar was murdered - Kundapur Police

Kundapur, 14 Aug 2013: The death of Prabhakar Achari on August 10 at a forest located near Vandse-Noojady, Kundapur, Udupi which was thought to be due to accidental gunshot has now been termed as murder by the Kundapur Police.
The arrested people identified as Nagaraj Poojary, Sunder Poojary, Santosh Poojary and Raju Poojary have been sent to judicial custody till August 24 after they were produced at the court on Monday, August 12.

The arrests were made based on complaint filed by deceased’s brother Manjunath Achari. On August 10, the four accused Nagaraj Poojary, Sunder Poojary, Santosh Poojary and Raju Poojary, all residents of Noojady, are said to have convinced Prabhakar to accompany them to go hunting, but were actually wanting to kill him.
Accordingly Prabhakar was shot at in the forest, but the four accused hatched a story saying it was an accidental firing. The Police who were not convinced with there are said to have conducted the investigation which led them to determine that it was indeed a case of murder.
The gun used to murder Prabhakar was found in the house of Babu Poojary, father of Nagraj Poojary.
