Kundapur: Bilva Andolan Kicks-off at Basroor Neighbourhood

Kundapur, 14 Aug 2013: Bilva Andolan, a campaign to plant saplings was held at Nivedita High School and Mahalingeshwar temple premises, Basroor, near here recently.
Mahalingeshwar temple managing trustee B Appanna Hegde presided the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Appanna expressed his deep concern over the new generation shunning age-old culture and traditions, owing to the lure of modernity and excessiveness of mass media.
Appanna further said that several eco-environmental programmes had to be devised in order to educate the students on different kinds of plants in order to sustain them as the times have changed. The youth should take the lead in gathering information on different species of plants that are on the verge of extinction and nurture them, said Appanna. He also commended the Bilva Andolan that was organized by Green India Movement ® in different places as its helpful in this regard.
Bilva Andolan convner N Mohan Acharya Koteshwar, Green India Movement ® trustee Dr Uttam Kumar Shetty, Santosh Koni, teaches and students, others were present on the occasion.
Nivedita High School headmaster Dinakar Shetty compered the programme.
The samplings of Bilva were distributed to the people to plant in their household on the occasion.
