Udupi: Property dispute turns into murder of brother..

Udupi, 22 Mar 2013: In a shocking incident a man killed his younger brother in fit of rage to protect his mother over a property dispute.  The incident happened in a  small village of Innanje (Shankerpura) on March 19. He was trying to save his mother from assault from him and eventually led to his younger brother’s murder.


The accused Srinivas Kotian (55) had not option but to stop his younger brother Shankar Kotian (47) stop from attaching his beloved mother but in process it turned into fatal and the younger brother died instantly.  They were sons of late Shiva Poojary and Paddu Poojarthi, and resident of Mandedi Undaru in Innanje. The accused is his brother .


It is a sort of frustration and it is learnt very often  Shankar used to attack verbally his mother and other family members over a property of which he wanted the share as she was not willing to part with that. Recently he was out of  job and was feeling very insecure and  used to come home fully drunk and abuse his mother. 

 

 


However, this  Tuesday matters cross the boundaries and  as usual he came fully drunk and began quarrel with her on the same issue and eventually began to assault his mother.


At this point, in an attempt Srinivas his elder brother lost his cool and  grabbed a heavy wooden stick and began beating Shankar mercilessly. Shanker, the younger brother too retaliated and fight reached uncontrollable.   Finally, Srinivas had no option but hit Shankar’s head with a fatal blow that killed Shanker.


The matter was informed to Kaup police who arrived quickly on the spot and they arrested Srinivas and began investigations are going on.


Kaup circle inspector Shivanand Walekar, inspector Archana, crime SI Rajendra Naik are part of the investigating team.
The news spread like wild fires, many local people  visited the crime spot on March 20 morning including. Karkala sub-division D.SP Jayant Shetty too arrived at the spot and conducted the nquiries.
