Funeral service of Late Fr J P Tauro held in Valencia Church

Mangalore, 12 Feb 2013: The funeral service of Fr Joseph Peter Tauro, popularly known as Fr. J.P. Tauro, aged 74 years who had passed away on Friday February 8, 2013 as a result of congestive cardiac failure (CCF) was held at St Vincent Ferrar Church, Valencia on Tuesday February 12, 2013. A large number of mourners attended the funeral service.
The funeral Mass was concelebrated by Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore diocese along with the Bishop of Udupi, Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese, Rev. Fr. Denis Moras Prabhu and other priests.
The funeral oration was delivered by Rev. Fr. Victor Machado who recalled the service rendered by late Fr. Tauro in different parishes and in social service by helping the needy and poor.
Director of Mangalore Diocesan Pastoral Institute, Fr. Vincent Monteiro delivered condolence message.

| It is indeed a very sad day for all of us who were associated closely with him. He was my great inspiration and mentor and a guiding spirit. He was a great priest and priest of poor and downtroden. He worked for the poor, to educate them to guide them and know their rights, he also instrumental in guiding youths for governmental jobs, a fearless priest who spoke against corrupt people and party.
