Moodubelle, 31 Jan 2013; Burglars once again struck and robbed 200 grams of gold and unaccounted amount of money  from the residence of Mrs. Lilly Mendonca close to the township of Moodubelle. The burglary took place during the night between January 30 and 31, 2013 as Mrs. Lilly Mendonca was undergoing treatment in one of the hospitals in Udupi and her daughter-in-law Mrs. Violet Mendonca was with her in the hospital during the night  leaving the home an easy target to the unscrupulous burglars.

When the granddaughter of Mrs. Lilly Mendonca, Venisha returned home from one of the hospitals in Manipal after completing her duty as a nurse at around 7.30 am on Thursday, January 31, 2012, to her utter shock she found the front door broken. When went inside Venisha found that two metal cupboards and to suit cases have been broken open and gold ornaments weighing nearly 200 grams have been stolen along with cash the amount of which is still unknown.

As the police were informed about the burglary, Circle Inspector from Kaup, Shivananda Valekar and K.R. Naik, Sub-Inspector from Shirva rushed to the spot. Finger print experts as well as sniffer dog were also pressed into service. It is said that the sniffer dog followed the trail of the burglars till the petrol pump. It is presumed that the burglars might have escaped in vehicle from the petrol pump.

It is indeed a matter of great concern that robberies have increased in and around Moodubelle since few months. People have to be on guard as they do not know when they may become targets of these burglars. Leaving the houses unoccupied during the night has become impossible due to such increasing incidents.

Inequality of incomes and jealousy, lure of easy money, dreams of becoming rich overnight drives youth to commit burglary and heinous crimes. The judiciary takes longer to award justice to men involved in crimes.

It is a shocking News. Since the present S.P.took charge of Udupi a series of thefts and burglary have taken place in an arround Udupi Taluk and district. The panicky general public express that the Police must be having hand in such thrilling acts and so no arrest take place. What the police are doing is a million dollar question. Do the police expect the public to rouse against them? Can Mr K.R.Naik explain? The Public are also discuss about the police actions and say they do not want to do because , if the team of robbers are comprising of some backward community people, the S.I. or the cirlce do not take drastic steps to have effective investigation. It is a shame disgrace for the Police and the government of karnataka. What the Home MInister is doing? Is he reviewing the reports and the police investigations? Or watch the drama and list to their Achievements?
