Padubelle: Parichaya’s first anniversary programme ‘Varshdhwani’ inaugurated

Padubelle, 27 Jan 2013: Parichaya, an association that was founded last year on January 22, 2012 as a platform to promote native culture, art and literature with its center at Pamboor started its first anniversary programmes on Sunday, January 27, 2013 in the Shri Narayana Guru Educational Institutions’ premises with a grand inauguration function at 10 am.
Muddhu Moodubelle, Senior Programme Coordinator in Akashwani, Mangalore and a well-known writer in Kannada, Tulu and Konkani languages and a researcher of Tulu Folklore was the chief guest for the inaugural function. Anil D’Sa, Pesident of Parichaya presided over the inaugural function. Prof. Vincent Alva along with the chief guest and Anil D’Sa was also on the dais.
Following the welcome address and introduction of the chief guest by Lucas D’Souza, member of the Executive Committee of Parichaya, Prof. Vincent Alva presented the a bunch of Jasmine flowers to the chief guest, Muddhu Moodubelle.
The series of day-long programmes on the occasion of the first anniversary of Parichaya were formally inaugurated by Muddhu Moodubelle by lighting the traditional lamp.
On this occasion the book titled “Bandhidhe Shubha Vasantha” written by Anu Belle (Raghavendra Rao) was released by the chief guest. Prior to the release of the book, Prof. Vincent Alva introduced Anu Belle to the audience. Anu Belle is presently lecturer in Alva’s group of Educational Institutions, Moodbidri. He had started writing short stories and novels since an early age. So far nearly 40 of his books have been published. His articles and stories have been published by various dailies and weeklies.
In his address, Muddhu Moodubelle expressed happiness on being acquainted with Parichaya and commented on the noble work that Parichaya has been taking up in promoting the indigenous art, culture and literature. He recalled his roots in village life and said that the flora and fauna as well as the gentle breeze manifest the poetry of the nature.
Anil D’Sa in his presidential address said that though he hails from Shankerpura, he has a strange relation with Pamboor. It was twenty five years ago that he became a singer in the music group that originated in Pamboor and 25 years later he got an opportunity to become the first president of the cultural group Parichaya that was founded last year.
Anil D’Sa gave away mementos to the chief guest, Muddhu Moodubelle and Mrs. Helen D’Souza, Manager of Moodubelle Charitable Trust who was present for the programme.
The inaugural programme was compeered by Mrs. Jenith Alva and vote of thanks was proposed by Frederick Saldanha.
At 11 am, Shri Chandrashekhar Kedlai, popular singer and Shri K.S. Shridhar Moorthy, retired Kannada lecturer from St. Mary’s College, Shirva presented ‘Karnabhedha Prasanga’ from Kumarvyasa’s Mahabharatha in a programme know as ‘Gamaka Gaddhuge’. The narration of the episode in a song form by Shri Chandrashekhar Kedlai and its interpretation in prose by Shri K.S. Shridhar Moorthy held the audience spellbound for nearly one and a half hour.
The main programme of the ‘Varshadhwani’, “Swara Surabhi” will be presented from 5.30 pm in which Suramani Ustad Rafiq Khan and Suramani Pravin Ghodkindi will present Sitar-Flute Jugalbandhi. Famous Shivas Fuse Band will also entertain the audience.
