M’belle: Republic Day celebrated in St. Lawrence Educational Institutions

Moodubelle, 27 Jan 2013: The 64the Republic Day was celebrated jointly by all the five St. Lawrence Educational Institutions on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 9.30 am in St. Lawrence PU College Quadrangle. Mr. Rajendra Shetty, President of Belle Grama Panchayat was the chief guest who unfurled the national flag on this occasion.
At the beginning of the function, students of St. Lawrence English Medium High School sang the prayer song. Sylvester Mathias, headmaster of Church Aided Higher Primary School welcomed the guest and the gathering. Thereafter, the chief guest along with the heads of the institutions unfurled the flag. Students of St. Lawrence College sang the flag song “Jenda Uncha Rahe Hamara….”.
The chief guest honoured Hanumantha, student of Church Aided Higher Primary School for his achievements in sports by presenting him cash award.
Mr. Rajendra Shetty was felicitated by the heads of the institutions for being elected as the president of Belle Grama Panchayat recently. Charles Quadros introduced Mr. Rajendra Shetty by highlighting his achievements and social activities.
In his Republic Day message, Mr. Rajendra Shetty appealed the students to remember with respect all those great national leaders who not only freed the country from the British rule but also made India a democratic Republic. He also assured the students that as the President of Belle Grama Panchayat he would endeavour to fulfill the basic necessities of the village.
Santosh Amin compeered the programme and Srinivas Ballal proposed the vote of thanks.

It is a great idea of celebrating Republic day together by all five institutions. This way a lot of individual time and preparation can be saved that can be invested in planning, organizing good programme. End of the day celebration and message of Republic day is same for all these institutions. Long live St. Lawrence institutions. |
