Udupi, 22 Jan 2013: RTI activist Vasudev Adiga, a native of Vandaru, near Kundapur, was not murdered for helping people to get justice for their various grievances.  The district police have enough clues to prove that Vasudev Adiga was slain over property dispute with his neighbor Ramesh Bayari.

The self-proclaimed astrologer Ramesh Bayari functioning in Bangalore was the mastermind, who had assigned his 6 disciples to murder Adiga.  The six-member group murdered Adiga on January 8 and dumped his dead body in a water pond at Yemmedoddi in Kadur taluk, Chikmagalur.  The police arrested astrologer Ramesh Bayari’s brother-in-law Subramanya Udupa for helping the group with money and five disciples who carried out the mission.  The master mind Ramesh Bayari and another accused are missing.

‘We have slain Vasudev Adiga, as we can no more bear our Guru suffering mentally, owing to property issue,’ confessed the accused, said Udupi SP Dr Boralingaiah, addressing the media persons in a press meet held here on Monday January 21.

RTI activist Vasudev Adiga had enmity with government officials, retired officials, quarry owners, religious heads, since he had unraveled corruption and misappropriation of funds.  It’s owing to this; all those people were called to the police station and questioned them for over their role.  It was futile, said SP Dr Boralingaiah.

The vital glue was gathered on vehicle that was used in the crime led to major breakthrough in Adiga’s case.  Bantwal rural police Mahesh Prasad was appointed as special official to find breakthrough in the case.  Meanwhile, at the backdrop of Adiga’s role as RTI activist, the investigations are also underway, added SP Dr Boralingaiah.

Kundapur DySP Yashodh Shibaroor, Mahesh Prasad, circle inspector Manjunat Kavari, Maruti G Nayak, DCIB inspector Praveen Nayak, sub-inspector Sampat Kumar, Dejappa, Arun Nayak and others were present at the press meet.

The clues given by a sensible person led to nabbing accused:

Umesh one among the accused from Bangalore had arrived in Vandar along with 2 youth and failed to finish Adiga in three attempts.  He was in Vandary from December 31 to January 1.  Umesh, Ramesh Bayari and Subramanya Udupa altogether masterminded the killing.  Umesh along with 5 men set to Vandar from Bangalore in Tata Safari and Scorpio SUV and waited for Adiga nearby his house.  They stopped Adiga on his motorcycle and hit his head on an iron rod.  They dumped unconscious Adiga in Scorpio SUV and driven up till a water pond located in Kadur, Chikmagalur district and dumped the dead body by fastening his hands and feet, besides tied a boulder.  The accused managed to reach Bangalore after the heinous crime.

The accused while arriving in Vandar had a cup of tea at Belve, while one sensible person observed wooden sticks in Scorpio SUV and noted the registration number that helped the police in nabbing the accused.

What a crime iis this by people who preached to be good to others. Ultimately it is character of an individual that matters. The duo have cheated many innocent people with their cunning motives in making money finally God has shown them their place. What do we learn from udupa and Ramesh is that easily don t trust the so called self proclaimed pious people. It is disgrace to the community they belong. Shame-
