Dubai: Emirates Pangalites bring smiles on Domestic Helpers in Zabeel Park

Dubai, 24 Nov 2012: It was a perfect day and perfect weather when Emirates Pangalites organized a perfect picnic to bring smile on 70 plus domestic helpers from U.A.E.  The Zabeel Park in Dubai is also a perfect place having long lush green lawns to settle down and enjoy.

 

Emirates Pangalites has been in forefront of organizing various activities, charitable deeds, cultural shows, blood camps, Celebrations of Festivals, enhancing talents of little children by organizing painting competitions, sports since its inception in 2002.  This year it completes 10 glorious years and on the occasion has a mission to complete that Emirates Pangalites, U.A.E. has 10 events to complete by end of this year and organizing a picnic day out for hard working Domestic Helpers in and around U.A.E was one of their mission they took upon beginning of this year.

 

A grand Decennial Celebration is being organized at Pangala/Shankerpura Parish on 25th of December 2012 wherein a large number of overseas Pangalites are expected to attend this grand extravaganza.

 

Picnic for Domestic Helpers was thought for a long time and yesterday it was realized quite successfully and all the guests took part in the whole day picnic and that too very enthusiastically. Every one took part in the day long interesting and creative enthusiastic games planned by EP Committee members.

 

The day began with a warm welcome by  President of EP Clevin D’Souza following by Introduction of Emirates Pangalites goals for this year by former President Michael Castelino.  A delicious break fast was served for every one prior to the beginning of the day long activities.

 

Joel Quadras is the man who is skilled and talented to organize very creative game and that too spelling out every rule of the game and make it easier for all to enjoy them thoroughly.  Joel, a tireless young man, former President and is the master of many talents along with committee members Ashwin, Dolphy, Marlene, Michael, Veena, Sonia, Vinita, Rony, Ignatious, Paul and Roshni conducted all the games successfully.

 

Earlier Joseph Mathias son-in-law of Pangala who is back bone of Emirates Pangalites spoke and wished all the attendees a great fun-filled day ahead.  Walter Nandalike and Dayan D’Souza (Daijiworld) attended briefly and they were introduced by Michael.

 

To ease and organize fun-filled games four teams were created called:  Rainbow, Navajyot, Sun-Shine and Green Land.  The highest point gainer in these groups would be adjudged the winner at the end of the day. It was then a team spirit and four teams fought for supremacy engaging them fully and to win the games and get the maximum points.

 

 

The morning session thrilling games included building the Khalifa Burg-tower using Balloons, writing/ memorizing recipe for Mangalorean Pork Special as per standard set out by Marlene, sack race, identifying grains blind folded and thrilling Give-us-a-Clue based on Bollywood movies.  All the games were played in a very friendly atmosphere and joyfully by all teams.

 

A sumptuous lunch was arranged for all the participants courtesy by Lawrence D’Souza of Najmat Bangalore Restaurant Sharjah.

 

After the lunch Anthakshari was held to warm up for the remaining games such as Jingle round where pics of actors, serials, Big Boss etc where shown for a second to identify them.  Followed by interesting Water Melon eating competition.  Another creative game titled:  Kasadinda Rasa wherein a basket of waste papers and other materials were distributed to each team and required them to create their own item and the teams did justice by their wonderful creations carved out of these items.

 

The main part of the after noon session was to act upon a theme given previously to all the teams namely ; Parish Feast, Weekly Market, Roce Ceremony and Mental Hospital.  All the themes were acted brilliantly by all teams and had good fun and judges had difficulty in selecting the best team.

 

All time fun loving game:  Tug-of-War was organized and all had good fun pulling the rope.

 

Finally it was time to declare the winners and in the final results Rainbow Team declared the winner securing the maximum points followed by second tie between Sunshine and Green Land  and Navojyot stood third.

 

Housie-Housie game was held prior to closing.

 

A vote of thanks was proposed by Joel Quadras wherein he thanked all the participants for attending and their sponsors giving them the opportunity to enjoy a day out.  He also thanked all the Committee members of EP for organizing and co-operating in all the games and activities.

 

All in all it was a great day out for these little helpers who toil day and night and they went with a good number of gift hampers and loads of prizes and it was a grand memorable day for them to remember and cherish for the rest of their life.
