Moodubelle Parish secures Second Place in the Inter-Parish Singing Competition

Shankerpura, 05 November 2012: Out of 21 parishes that had taken part in the Konkani Singing Competition organized by the ICYM Unit of Pangala Parish (Shankarpura), Moodubelle Parish secured Second Place in a keenly contested competition.

 

Since the last nine years, the  ICYM Pangala has been successfully organizing “Konkani GayanSpardho”  (Konkani Singing Competition) at the  Udupi Diocese District Level.  This year’s competition was successfully organized on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 2.30 pm onwards at Pangala Parish Hall.

 

Out of 48 parishes of Udupi Diocese, 21parishes took part in this competition. The competition was held as per the following:
Below 15yrs-solo singing for boys and girls and group singing.
Above 15yrs-solo singing for boys and girls and group singing.

 

Prior to the beginning of the competition, the President of ICYM Pangala welcomed the gathering. Judges for the competition were famous singers- Roshan D’Souza, Meera Crasta and Joshesph Pinto,  all from Angelore, Mangalore .

 

 

The choir members and the younger children on Moodubelle parish participated in this singing competition. In below 15years  male singing competition, Celvin Martis bagged  Second Prize. In the Group Singing, once again Moodubelle Parish got the First Position. The names of the winners who secured  First place in the competition are as follows: Clevin Martis, Joy Sequira, Vilton Quadros, Jesmitha Mendonca, Edna Menezes, ReshalFernandes, Josvita Soni Mendonca, Flancy D’Almeda and Nishmita D’Souza

 

The overall champions of 2012 Konkani Gayan Spardho Competition are:

 

First  Place: Milagres Kalayanpur Parish
Second Place: Moodubelle Parish
Third Place: Pangala Parish

 

It is heartening to know that after five years Moodubelle Parish won overall second place out of 21 parishes of the newly formed Udupi Diocese having won two prizes.

The participants from Moodubelle Parish in the competition expressed their gratitude  to  Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, parish priest of Moodubelle, Fr. Paul Sequeira and Fr. Lancy Saldanha for their support and also Charles Quadras, the Head of the Choir Group and the Musicians as well as to Prasanna and ICYM Moodubelle for supporting and guiding them.
