M’lore: State funds being misused for poll: HD Kumaraswamy

Mangalore, 24 Sep 2012: JD(S) State President HD Kumaraswamy on Monday alleged that the BJP government has decided to release Rs 200 crore under its Savayava krushi Mission to Amritabhoomi Trust to fund its poll activities.

 

Speaking to reporters here, he alleged that BJP has appointed three RSS functionaries to that trust with a directive that Rs 1 crore each should be spent in each taluk of the district to fund its poll activity in ensuing polls.

 

The tax payers money is being misused by the state. There are so many instances of such misappropriation that the next non BJP government may have to set up 15 to 20 commissions to probe all irregularities,’’ he said.

 

Taking on Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, the JD(S) state president questioned what moral right did state have to blame centre for the common man’s burden due to increase in diesel price hike. The CM should reduce the VAT, which is highest in the country to reduce the common man’s burden’’ he suggested.

 

He also said that though the state had seen third CM, there was no development. In fact the first three months of this fiscal had seen negative progress compared with the three months of last fiscal,’’ Kumaraswamy said.

 

On inclusion of Nagaraj Shetty of the BJP into the party, Kumaraswamy defended the decision saying Shetty was a changed man. He has come into party a "changed man". Even Mahendra Kumar (who was the prime accused in attacks against places of worship in 2008) who is in JD(S) has changed after joining our party. He has not engaged in any such activities as he had when he was with Bajrang Dal ever since he has joined us and instead has been opposing communal forces", he said.

 

He ruled out any possibilities of joining hands with former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in light of his utterances of joining a new party soon. The alliance will never happen and if it happens it can be termed as the eighth wonder,’’ he added.
