Mangalore, 24 July 2012: A new konkani medicine book " Amrit Thujea Payanthala ’ was relesed by Rev Sr Mariette the Provincial Superior of the Bethany sisters, at the Bethany house, Bendur on Sunday. This valuable book is authored by Sr Agnesia Frank BS.
Plants are an integral part of nature. This book is a call to return to nature for total healing and to take advantage of what is free and available! It is a help also to restore human kind to its original relationship with nature. It is a call to be good and responsible stewards of what is entrusted to us. Modernity has perverted it. Let’s restore it together! Shall we begin this process? cos, IT’S STILL A BEAUTIFUL WORLD! Here in this book "Amrith Tujya Payanthala..Alyapalyachi shembor vokta zadan" you will find names of 100 herbal plants with botanical and regional language. Sr Concetta the superior of St Joseph’s Convent Shubhada spoke highly on Sr Agnesia and her dedication to help out for thos who can’t afford to go for modern medicines and introduced the patients the power of plants which eventually resulted in writing of this book on high demand. Provincial Superior Sr Mariette congratulated for the great work done by Sr Agnesia. She also applauded for her noble mission in making known Christ to the unknown for the past 25 years in the field of Social Apostolate. "This book is a tool in Primary Health Care indeed" she added.
On the great feast of Mary Magdalene, while the sisters had gathered for a Province Assembly the book was released. The august gathering included all the superiors, guests and Provincial Councilors.
Sr Agnesia expressed her gratitude to Sr Mariette for supporting her in this great venture. Sr Sharon the Provincial Secretary compered the programme and Sr Lolita delivered the vote of thanks.
