Aati Amavasya: Teenager feared drowned during holy dip

Udupi, 19 Jul 2012: A teenager who attempted to take a holy dip in the sea on the occasion of ’ Aati Amavasya’ was washed away by strong waves at Malpe in Udupi District on Thursday. The victim has been identified as Nishan (17) from Kodi Bengre near Malpe.

 

 

Police said Nishan along with his three other friends had gone to a spot where it was less crowded and was caught in the strong sea waves. He is feared drowned and the body has not been found as yet. Police said they had warned public not to venture in some areas where the current was strong, but the youth had ignored it as the rest of the beach was crowded.
