Doha; Sunil D’Silva Elected New President of MCC

Doha, 25 Jun 2012: Sunil D’Silva was elected as the new president of Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Qatar during the 20th Annual General Meeting of MCC held on Friday June 22, 2012 at the ICC premises. Sunil D’Silva was the vice-president and was unanimously elected as the president for the next two years.
The programme began with a prayer led by Daphney Lobo. Outgoing president Richard D’Souza welcomed the gathering and gave his brief message on the success story of last year’s activities and thanked everyone for all their help and support extended to the excom during his term of 2 years of Presidency and encouraged members to come forward to join the executive committee and hone their leadership skills.
General Secretary Riana Pinto presented a detailed report on Club’s activities while treasurer Prashanth D’Silva put forward details of the audited financial report.
Richard D’Souza then proposed amendments to the MCC constitution which were approved on the floor by the members. The key features of the amendment were to have 6 additional positions in the expanded executive committee and the advisory board to consist of 10 advisors with 2 permanent positions reserved for the women.
This was followed with the election of the new president and executive committee. The elections were officiated by Henry D’Souza. The new executive committee is as follows:

Advisory board comprises of Jerald D’Mello, David D’Souza, Richard D’Souza, Norbert Corda, Rocky Fernandes, Alfred Sequeira, Henry D’Souza, Franky Quadros, Reena Castelino and Jessie Mendonca.
Sub-committees to assist the executive committee were also formed on the occasion. Outgoing President Richard D’souza handed over a copy of the constitution to the new president Sunil D’Silva. New president delivered his acceptance speech and thanked all for their support and encouragement. He proposed launching of membership drive and starting of the hospital ministry to visit the sick in the hospital. The members present assured their full support to implementating the same.
Remy D’Souza compered the programme. The meeting was adjourned with light refreshments.
