Annual parish feast celebrated in the Holy Cross Church, Pamboor

Udupi, 15 December 2011: The Parish feast of Holy Cross   Church, Pamboor was celebrated by the parishioners with great devotion and fervour on Wednesday, December 14, 2011.  Before the solemn feast mass, the Parish Pastoral Parishad members, sponsors and Murdom donors were honoured with candles by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Charles Lewis.
 
Prior to the feast mass,  Fedrick Menezes, Vice-President of Parish Pastoral Parishad welcomed the guest priests, devotees from other parishes and Pamboor parishioners.
 
The solemn feast mass commenced at 10.30 am with  Rev. Fr.Stany Tauro, Dean of the Shirva Varado as the chief celebrant accompanied by several other guest priests from neighbouring parishes.

 

In his homily, Fr. Stany Tauro highlighted the importance the Holy Cross  in one’s life by narrating an incident from Egypt. He said that in Egypt there lived a Muslim whose daughter  was sick and none of the medicines worked. One day, a Christian gave  him a Cross saying keep this Cross below your daughter’s pillow. At first, the Egyptian did not believe that a miracle would happen, but still he did as his Christian neighbour had suggested. After a week he saw some change in the health of  his daughter and gradually she became normal. He also gave the example of  St.Francis Xavier,who constantly had a Cross  with him.
A large number of parishioners participated in the offertory procession by presenting varieties of articles.  The church choir under the guidance of  Vincent Alva rendered hymns beautifully that heightened the spirit of the solemn feast mass.
 
After the feast mass, Rev. Fr. Charles Lewis, parish priest of the Holy Cross church, Shanthipura Pamboor, thanked Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro for being the chief celebrant and other guest priests. He also expressed his gratitude to the parishioners for the success of the parish feast. He invoked the blessings and wished all the parishioners at home and abroad as well as guests a very happy feast.  Melody stars band of Pamboor added to the pomp to the occasion.
