M’belle: Overwhelming response to ICYM organised Talents Day

Moodubelle, 09 September 2011: As in the previous years, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) of Modubelle organised Talents Day on Thursday, September 2011 from 4.30 pm which drew overwhelming response and support from the parishioners. Children, youth and even elders whole heartedly participated in the cultural programme that not only manifested their hidden talents of also entertained a large number of people.

 

Following the welcome dance and welcome by Royston Alva-President of the ICYM, a brief stage programme was held presided by Fr. Joswey Fernande, the parish priest. On this occasion prizes were distributed to  winners of various games, quiz competition, fancy dress, etc conducted by the ICYM on previous Sundays. Based on the total points secured by the Wards, first prize was awarded to the Sacred Heart I Ward and the Holy Family Ward secured the second prize.

 

Dr. Alwyn D’Sa, a native of Moodubelle and old student of the parish educational institutions, presently lecturer in the English Department of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore was honoured during this occasion.

 

Dr. Alwyn D’Sa, in his brief address recalled his student days in Moodubelle and said that as his parents were in teaching profession, he too was attracted towards teaching and he was grateful to ICYM of Moodubelle  for honouring him for his achievements.

 

 

In his presidential  message Fr. Joswey said that the Talents Day organised by the ICYM gives an opportunity for the children, youth and even adults to showcase  their hidden talents and to manifest their hidden qualities. As the Director of the ICYM, Fr. Joswey complemented the youth for their good work in organising such events and providing an opportunity to the parishioners to exhibit their talents.

 

The stage programme was compeered by Alwyn Lobo-Vice President of the ICYM, Lloyed Rebello introduced the chief guest-Dr. Alwyn D’Sa and Vinit D’Souza, Secretary of the ICYM proposed the vote of thanks.

 

The cultural programme was a bouquet of variety entertainment that was presented by children right from nursery to fourth standard and students from high school and PU College who were the members of  the Young Christian Students (YCS), Marian Sodality and ICYM. The elder parishioners too manifested their talents through hilarious skits.  There was wide range of entertainment from group dances to fusion and hip-hop dances, group songs, skits and tableaus. The brothers from the Assisi Nilaya presented spirited dance to the  tune of ‘Vande Matarm’. The tableau presented by the members of the Marian sodality on the need to protect environment and fight against corruption was quite educative.
