Pamboor, 08 September 2011: The Feast of Nativity of Mary was celebrated with great devotion and joy in the Holy Cross Church Pamboor oon Thursday, 8 September 2011.

 

Prior to the feast, on 7 September 2011, Fedrick Menezes, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council brought paddy from John Sequeria’s paddy field.

 

As it was raining outside the children offered flowers near Mother Mary’s statue in side the church when the Church Choir sang the hymn "Moriyekh Hogolsiyaan..."

 

 

Mass started at around 8:00am. Fr. Charles Lewis and Fr. Dancy Marits jointly celebrated the Feast Mass.Fr. Dancy Martis in his sermon said about importance of a woman in daily life.During offertory the gurkars brought paddy in a line and kept it near Infant Marys statue Fr.Charles Lewis blessed the New Paddy and the mass continued. Fr.Dancy Martis released the church magazine "Khursacho Thallo" and gave away the copies. After the Feast Mass, New Paddy  was distributed by gurkars t the parishioners and sweets were also distributed.  The ICYM members distributed sugarcane.

Pamboor, 08 September 2011: The Feast of Blessing of New corns-Nativity of Mother Mary ’Monthi Festh’ was celebrated with much pomp and colour, with hundreds of children and adults alike showering flowers on the statue of the Nativity of Mother Mary to mark the Birth Day of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Holy Cross Church, Pamboor.

 

The ceremony started at 7-30 a.m. with the blessings of the New Corns- ’Konsiyo’ by Rev. Fr. Charles Lewis, with the singing of the Hymns in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

 

 
 
Varieties of flowers with hundreds of colours was the beauty of the ceremony. The homily  preached  by the Vicar was very lively, addressing the children, young, and the old alike and to have a feast of vegetarian food together with the family members.

 

At the end, the New Corn was distributed to all the faithful and sugar cane was given to those who had brought flowers and also to those present.

 

It was a glorification of the feast by one and all with the singing of Choir which was lively as all sang with enthusiasm and glorified Mother Mary’s Birth Day.

Happy Monthi Festh to all the Bellevision readers,nice pictures Josil,great to see the childrens showering the flowers on the statue of Mother Mary,I think the ceremony has changed this year.Good to see all the activities inside the church.Thank you Josil, and we want to see more things happening in Pamboor...happy festh once again.
