Udupi: News photographer Astro Mohan wins Platinum Jubilee Image Award

Udupi, 25 Feb 2024: Astro Mohan, a seasoned news photographer at Udayavani, has been honoured with the 75 years of India’s Republic: Platinum Jubilee Image Award by the prestigious India International Photographic Council (IIPC) in collaboration with the Photography Academy of India (PAI). The winning photograph, titled ‘Proud Moment,’ has been recognized for its exceptional visual storytelling and artistic excellence.

 

The platinum jubilee image award celebrates the remarkable contributions of photographers to the field of visual storytelling during India’s 75 years of independence. Astro Mohan’s ‘Proud Moment’ encapsulates a powerful narrative that resonates with the nation’s spirit, making it a standout choice for this prestigious accolade.

 

 

Astro Mohan, with an illustrious career as a news photographer, has consistently demonstrated a keen eye for capturing compelling moments that tell impactful stories. His dedication to the craft and ability to convey the essence of significant events through his lens have garnered him widespread recognition.

 

The India International Photographic Council (IIPC) and the Photography Academy of India (PAI) will jointly present this award to Astro Mohan in acknowledgement of his outstanding achievement and his enduring commitment to advancing the art of photography.

 

Astro Mohan is a senior news photographer bringing years of experience in capturing impactful moments and telling stories through his lens. His work has been widely recognized for its artistic merit and storytelling prowess. He is an international renowned news photographer with over 29 years in photo journalism and currently works as a senior news photographer of a popular national kannada daily newspaper Udayavani. He has earned over 500 plus national and international prestigious awards till date. His picture ‘Karavali Kambala’ bagged the first prize in an international level photography competition, held at United Kingdom. He has travelled and exhibited his photo worldwide and also been felicitated by various photography associations, he was recently honoured by the Karnataka Media Academy in Bengaluru
