International Conference on Quantum Technologies and Applications inaugurated at Manipal

Manipal, 17 Feb 2024: The Department of Atomic and Molecular Physics (DAMP) at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), in collaboration with the Department of Physics at Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ), proudly hosted the inaugural session of the International Conference on Quantum Technologies and Applications (ICQTA). This prestigious three-day event, taking place in Manipal, has attracted over thirty distinguished speakers from around the world, specializing in the rapidly evolving field of quantum technology. More than 150 students and research scholars from various institutions have convened in Manipal to partake in this significant academic gathering.

 

Lt. Gen. Dr. M.D. Venkatesh,, Vice Chnacellor, MAHE, Manipal inaugurated the program and  in his inaugural address, highlighted MAHE’s proactive steps towards quantum technology, acknowledging the significant investments already made and the commitment to further research and development in this domain.

 

 

Dr. Sajan Daniel George, the head of DAMP and convener of the ICQTA, emphasized the department’s commitment to aligning with national mission programs, particularly highlighting this initiative’s contribution to the National Quantum Mission. Dr. Ashima Bagaria, Secretary of ICQTA from MUJ, provided an insightful overview of the conference, marking a significant milestone in MAHE’s journey towards embracing and advancing quantum technology in line with India’s Quantum Mission for boosting scientific research and economic growth.

 

A pre-conference tutorial, led by Dr. Anil Prabhakar from IIT Madras, was organized to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills, underlining the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving the objectives of the National Quantum Mission. Dr. Lazar Mathew, the chairman of the conference, underscored the necessity of new technologies in critical sectors such as health, environment, energy, agriculture, and defence (HEAD), advocating for a multidisciplinary approach that integrates Physics, Maths, and Engineering.

 

Dr. Mithun Thudiyingal, the co-convenor of the event, extended a vote of thanks, concluding the inauguration ceremony. The conference, concluding on February 14, promises a vibrant platform for the exchange of knowledge, fostering innovations, and establishing collaborations amongst the global scientific community, under the expansive umbrella of Quantum Technologies.

 

This event signifies a leap forward for MAHE and MUJ in the field of quantum technology, aligning with India’s ambitious Quantum Mission and paving the way for significant advancements in scientific research and technological development.
