Udupi: Independence day celebrations at Ajjarkad grounds

Udupi, 15 August 2011: In the developing society, due to the natural political differences of situations Udupi – Chickmagalur MP D.V. Sadananda Gowda has become the Chief Minister. Under his able leadership all-round development of the state will take place, said Udupi District In charge Minister Dr. V. S. Acharya. He was giving the message to the people of district upon unfurling the national flag on the occasion of Independence day celebrations of district level at the Ajjarkad grounds on Monday.
 
Speaking further Dr. Achrya said that, after BJP came to power, within 3 years the state has achieved best progress in the country, which even the centre government has agreed. Government has given priorities for the development. Simplification of the law for implementation to control corruption in the government offices and quick simplified methods of functioning of government offices is being done. So that the public who come to the government can get their work done easily, he said.

 

 
He called upon the officers to work hard in implementing the programs for the people which have been announced by the government. Staffs at all levels in the departments such as Tax, Grameenabhivradhi, Lokopayogi which have to attend the problems of people on daily basis, are to be kept under vigilance, said Dr. Acharya to the Senior Officers of the district, on this occasion.
 
Earlier the Minister took guard of honour from District Police, Reserve Armed Gurads, Fire Brigade, Home Guards, N.C.C., Scouts – Guides and Service Corps and watched their attractive march past. After that the persons who has done notable contributions in the fields of social service, education, sports and literature were honoured.
 
Udupi MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat, Jilla Panchayath President Katapadi Shankara Poojary, Taluk Panchayath President Devdas Hebbar, Municipal Corporation President Kiran Kumar, City Development Authority President Shudhakara Shetty, Deputy Commissioner Dr. M. T. Reju, Superintendent of Police Y.S. Ravikumar and other representatives of people and Officers had taken part in the Independence day celebrations. After the assembly, cultural programs by the college students were conducted.
 
Highlights of the speech of Dr. V.S. Acharya:
• Each Vidhana Sabha constituency has been issued rupees 5 crores each for the development of lakes in the village.
• Plan estimating rupees 140 crores has been prepared for the development of 3 ports including Malpe.
• Plan has been prepared to build bridges to 8 rivers of Udupi district.
• Work has started for tourist mandir costing rupees 3 crores. 
• Udupi district administrative office and indoor sports stadium are ready for inauguration.
• Development work by the tourism department is in progress at Malpe, Maravanthe and Pajaka.
