Nine Killed in Car-Truck collision at Yellapur, Uttara Kannada

Karwar, 14 Sep 2017: At least nine people were killed in an accident near Arabail of Yellapur in Uttara Kannada district on Wednesday.

 

According to police, the accident took place when the driver of Mahendra Xylo, driving rashly and negligently, collided his vehicle head-on with a truck. Police said that the impact of the accident that took place on NH 63 near Yellapur Arabail bridge was such that the SUV was reduced to heap of metal. The deceased have been identified as Vivek Vasanth Ghatage (34), his wife Menaka (28) and their children Varadaraj and Vaishnavi, all residents of all residents of Raybag in Ballari.

 

Others who died in the accident are Sachin Madhukar Jandenavar (28), Gaurava Vasanth Metri (58), Renuka Chandrakanth Kamble (30), Abhinav Chandrakanth Kamble (3), and the diver of the car Mujahid Iqbal Nayakwadi (32). Ganjanana Bapu Metri is injured and is being treated at a hospital. The police said the family was returning to Belagavi after a visit to Kukke Subrahmanya temple in Dakshina Kannada.
