Mumbai: Financial capital returns to normal after torrential rains

Mumbai, 31 Aug 2017: The normal life is limping back to normal after torrential rains caused flooding in the financial hub of India since Monday, August 28.
The train services restored to near normalcy on Wednesday, August 30 morning that enabled the stranded people to return home. The state administration declared holiday on Wednesday.
A person was washed away in floods at Rabody in Thane district, 3 persons including children died in a house collapse at Subash Nagar, Vikhroli, here. The total casualty reported so far were five.
The people living in housing colonies, slums, and shopkeepers are draining the water in their premises and are determined to get back to normal. The police laid barricades on roads as precaution to pedestrians. The civic body cancelled the leave of all its employees who are busy on cleaning mess caused by floods.
The electricity supply in few localities is yet to be restored to pump drinking water to their homes. Mumbaikars are known to be resilient on adversity, shared their milk, food grains, water with neighbors to overcome the difficulty.
The local trains are running on schedule, while the trains on CR and Harbor Line are running a little late. The outbound trains restored their services from Lokamanya Tilak Terminal – Kurla, Bombay Central, CST and Bandra stations.
A few flights were cancelled at Mumbai airport, while Mangaluru – Mumbai flights operated as usual.
